Assistant Professor of 社会学/Criminology
Nebraska Wesleyan University seeks applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of 社会学/ Criminology beginning August 2024 for a 九个月, tenure-track position. The ideal applicant for this position brings expertise in quantitative 研究方法, and social statistics, particularly pertaining to crime and deviance, and will assist in academic advising, professional development of undergraduate students, and in offering Service-Learning opportunities to undergraduate majors.

The teaching load will be 3 courses (4-credit courses) per semester in a traditional semester format. The successful applicant will teach Criminology, Quantitative 研究 Methods, 社会统计数据, and Introduction to Criminal Justice, and offer elective courses such as Juvenile Justice or suggest new courses in the Criminology Major. The successful applicant will also build on their experiences in the areas of 刑事司法, 法律, 少年司法, gender-based violence, 或其他, to bring service-learning projects to our majors.
NWU is a liberal arts university whose faculty is expected to excel at teaching and advising and remain active in both scholarship and service.
- PhD in Criminology or 社会学 is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a focus in crime or deviance. A JD will not be considered a substitute for a PhD.
- 研究 or Professional Experience in 刑事司法, 法律, 少年司法, 寄养, gender-based violence, 监狱改革, 取证, or immigration is required.
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate interpersonal and innovative teaching skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with faculty and students.
